Background
The Sulphur River Ranch raises commercial Brangus and Brangus Plus Angus cattle. Our "Brangus Plus" cattle have more Angus than Brangus in their breeding. We typically breed top quality registered Brangus or Angus bulls to commercial Brangus and Brangus Plus cows.
Our Brangus Plus cattle have either some or no navels, less ear, and more hair than our Brangus cattle. We have found this combination will bring a higher price at market time and we continue to improve our herd quality by selection and introduction of top quality cattle when we acquire outside breeding stock.
Some young cattle offered for sale are raised on the ranch and some are purchased from third parties or sale barns. All cattle are regularly wormed, have been vaccinated for black leg, and OCV (calf hood) as well as given the appropriate breeding and respiratory vaccines. We typically use Cattlemaster VL5 and either a 7-way or 8-way black leg.
The Sulphur River Ranch in the past was fully certified in the Texas Beef Quality Producer program as established by the Texas Cooperative Extension Service, the Texas Beef Council and Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. BQA certification has not been renewed but much of the record keeping and practices as prescribed by BQA is being continued.

Complete Dispersal of Cattle
14 Choice Black Brangus/Angus Open Heifers. Average 800 lbs, pre-conditioned, wormed, all shots including OCV. $10,500 for group.
11 Fancy Black Brangus/Angus Exposed Heifers to top registered Low Birth Weight/Hi Gain Angus Bulls. Put with bulls on 11/30/2009. Pre-conditioned, wormed, all shots including OCV. $12,100 for group.
46 Black Brangus/Angus 1st calf heifers. Calves will be weaned in April. These mama's are what is left from an original group of 75 that were culled three times. First time culled for conformation and disposition. Second time culled for minimum pelvic size. Third time culled for those that did not breed on time or was open. They were bred to Low Birth Weight Registered Top Angus Bulls. All of this group calved without any assistance. They have been with the same bulls since calving. Will sell exposed for $1,000/head or vet checked for pregnancy at $1,150/head. Minimum to buy is 15, gate cut or you can pick for $50.00 premium.
41 Black Brangus/Angus Cows age range 3 to 10 years old. Most are pairs. Bred to registered Brangus Bulls. Calves on side are by same bulls. No calving problems. $1,250 for pairs, $950 for others.
